LENTIL STORAGE

by JOAN
(SCOTTSDALE, AZ, USA)

Joan's Question: Why did an opened bag of lentils crumble up?

Suzy's Answer:

Hi, Joan! Thank you for your question.

Since you live in a dry climate in Arizona, and the bag was open, your lentils probably just dried out. Even dry legumes have some moisture in them, so if they are left in an unsealed container, in a very arid environment, over time, they will crumble.

In the future, you may want to store your dry legumes in an airtight container to avoid problems.

Hope this helps and thank you for visiting our healthy eating website!
