Why Eat Healthy?

Benefits of Eating Healthy

Benefits of Eating Healthy

We all know that we need to eat foods that are good for us—at least some of the time. With the proliferation of processed foods and fast foods, combined with our busy lifestyles, healthy eating seems to be more of a challenge in the developed world than it has ever been before, even for the more affluent among us. It isn’t that most of us don’t have enough food, but that we are more often making the wrong food choices.

Maybe the problem is that we just don’t know enough about healthy eating. If that is the case, then we need to educate ourselves and then we need to be convinced that the benefits of healthy eating are compelling enough to cause us to pursue a healthy eating lifestyle.

Here is your own personal list of the benefits of eating healthy.

Benefits of Eating Healthy

*You will feel better, with better digestion and general well-being.

*You will look better, with healthy skin, hair, eyes, teeth, etc.

*You will live longer, at least with regard to health-related mortality.

*You will have more energy to do the things you love.

*You will require fewer visits to the doctor and dentist.

*You will sleep better.

*Your sex life will improve (especially if your spouse is eating healthy, too).

*Your mood will improve.

*You are less likely to struggle with obesity.

*You will be less likely to develop diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease.

*If you are already suffering from a disease or disorder, eating healthy will help keep it under control or even reverse it.

Learn the basics

Now that you know why you should eat a healthy diet, it is important that you educate yourself about the foods you eat. Take the time to learn about basic nutrients and become a label reader. In this way you can put yourself in the driver seat of your good health.

Healthy eating tip

It is important that you eat a variety of foods so that it is more likely that all of these nutrition categories will be represented. If you eat the same food day after day, you may be missing out on essential nutrients. It is also important to remember that one nutrition category is not more necessary than another, since they all work together to keep you healthy.
